Last updated: August 17, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Splitbillup (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. We may modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. Description of Service
Splitbillup is a web-based application that helps groups track, split, and settle shared expenses. The Service includes tools for creating expense groups, logging transactions, calculating balances, generating settlement recommendations, and sharing results via link or QR code. Certain features, such as AI-powered chat parsing, are available only to users on paid plans.
3. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use Splitbillup. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. Basic features are available without creating an account. Paid plans require registration and may require payment information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any account credentials and for all activity under your account.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorized purpose.
- Upload or process malicious code, spam, or infringing content.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the Service beyond its intended functionality.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Use the Service to store or transmit sensitive data that could cause harm if exposed (e.g., government IDs, banking credentials, health records).
5. User Content & Data
You retain ownership of the data you enter into Splitbillup, including expense details, group names, and chat transcripts you upload for parsing. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to process, store, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service. This license ends when you delete your data or close your account, except where retention is required by law.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, trademarks, logos, and content (excluding user-generated data), is the exclusive property of Splitbillup. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our prior written consent.
7. Subscriptions, Payments & Refunds
Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by law or at our sole discretion. We may change pricing with reasonable notice. If you cancel, you will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period, after which your account will revert to the Freemium plan.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service may integrate with or link to third-party platforms (e.g., payment apps, AI processing providers, analytics tools). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of these third parties. Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Settlement calculations are provided for convenience only and do not constitute financial, legal, or tax advice.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Splitbillup and its affiliates, officers, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), whichever is greater.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Splitbillup from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall remain in effect.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Splitbillup operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
14. Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms periodically. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or via email where feasible. Your continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
